Inspirational Women: Lisa

Every month on the 18th, I celebrate the strong, intelligent and kind women in my life.

This month, meet Lisa I can’t imagine any other woman who wraps up this year celebrating all the amazing women in my life.

Lisa married Mike, my best friend of 31 years. She is a rockstar mom who ran multiple races (including 5k) in her first, second and third trimesters. A former 6th grade teacher, now stay-at-home mom and fitness instructor, Lisa’s spirit, love of life and family are inspiring. I am blessed to have her in my life.

18th Style: Where are you from?
Lisa: New Jersey

18the Style: Tell us a little about yourself

After 19 years as a Middle School English Teacher/Reading and Literacy Specialist, I’m currently a pre/post natal fitness instructor and stay at home mommy to my 2-year-old son, Luca and (arriving any day now) his baby brother!

18th Style: What does style mean to you?

Lisa: Style is my way of expressing confidence, attitude, and comfort! My style has evolved over the years as a professional, fitness enthusiast and now as an active mom and wife who always wants to look and feel her best for everything from errands and play dates to those rare, yet special date nights with my amazing husband.

18th Style: Who inspires your style?

Lisa: I am inspired by those who know how to combine classic, comfortable, feel-good fabrics and with a great pair of shoes, colorful/unique accessories, or trendy statement jacket.

18th Style: What’s your favorite store or brand?

Lisa: Days belong to Athleta and nights to Apricot Lane! Whether I’m running a 5K or running to meet a friend for lunch, Athleta offers styles and performance wear that are geared to this mo

m’s active daily lifestyle. Apricot Lane is my go-to when I am ready for that statement piece (like my all-time favorite suede Moto jacket), great top, or cute dress.

18th Style: Lastly, is there anything you want to say to other women?

Lisa: Yes! As a woman who has overcome a great deal of adversity throughout her life, waited 39 years to find her soulmate and get married, 40 to have her first child, and 42 to have her second, I would love to share my all time favorite quote: “What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our life haven’t happened yet.”

While I try my best to “live in the moment” and appreciate all of life’s blessings, when things get crazy I sometime wonder, “How am I going to get through this?!” I then remember the incredible twists and turns this life takes us on, enjoying the ride of possibilities with hope with anticipation of what’s to come!

18th Style: Another favorite quote or saying?

Lisa: “One Woman can make a difference but together we can rock the world.”
