Inspirational Women: October 2017, Shannon

Every month on the 18th, I celebrate the strong, intelligent and kind women in my life.

This month, meet my friend Shannon Taylor Pappas.

Shannon and I met over 10 years ago. Her husband is a dear friend of mine from college. She is a badass, hardworking, compassionate amazing woman. Her titles include mom of four, wife and #CEO!

Shannon

18th Style: Where are you from?
Lisa: California

18th Style: What’s your day job?

Shannon: I am CEO of Intelligent Quisine

18th Style: What does style mean to you?

Shannon: Style to me is a way to express yourself without saying a word. My outfit today is a pair of rag & bone jeans, a Banana Republic blazer with some fun heels. When I head to the office I like to be focused, serious and productive but also have a casual and fun side so the ideas and energy can flow!

As a mother of four young kids, my work style is inspired by all the working moms out there. It’s a bit of skill mixed with pure luck to get out of the house with the outfit you intended to wear. But it’s also a way to transform into a new head space and get my working day started on a good foot!

18th Style: What’s your favorite store or brand?

Shannon: It depends but I love to workout so outside of the office I’d have to say that lately I really love Spiritual Gangster

18th Style: Lastly, is there anything you want to say to other women?

Shannon: “My wish for all women is that we find a way to lift each other up and not step on each other to get what we want. And that we teach our daughters (and sons) to do the same. Perform a kind deed for another woman and help lift her up! “

Inspirational Women: September 2017, Robin

Every month on the 18th, I celebrate the strong, intelligent and kind women in my life.

This month, meet my friend Robin Murdoch, Reporter & Fill-in Anchor for Fox affiliate Detroit FOX 2 Detroit

Robin and I met at Emerson College when she moved in down the hall from me. She was a freshman and I was a junior. We instantly connected and so blessed to have met her.

Robin

18th Style: Where are you from?
Robin: Concord, New Hampshire

18th Style: What’s your day job?

Robin: Reporter & Fill-in Anchor for Fox affiliate Detroit FOX 2 Detroit

18th Style: What does style mean to you?

Robin: Style to me is looking good while feeling good in something. I like to be trendy but also comfortable. And I love things that are versatile. There is nothing better than an outfit that can be dressed up for work or worn as is when I’m just hanging out with friends or family.

18th Style: Who inspires your style?

Robin: I don’t have one person who inspires my style. I’m honestly inspired by so many people and it can happen at anytime: when I’m watching tv or flipping through the pages of a magazine I’ll see something and say I need that!

18th Style: What’s your favorite store or brand?

Robin: Because I’m a mother of 3 young children and work full time, it’s hard to find the time to get out and go shopping by myself. I’ve been relying on

Stitch Fix lately in which of box of goodies is sent right to my house. There’s usually a couple shirts in here, pants and a jacket, shoes or some kind of an accessory.

Inspirational Women: August 2017, Tracey

Every month on the 18th, I celebrate the strong, intelligent and kind women in my life.

This month, meet my friend Tracey, Owner of Bowen’s Barber Shop @traceybowenbarber.

Tracey and I met back in 1999 when we were hired as Associate Producers for the ABC Television game show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. We became instant friends. She is one of the kindest people I know (she also has quite the sense of humor). Check out her IG page.

Tracey

18th Style: Where are you from?
Tracey: Pennsylvania

18th Style: What’s your day job?

Tracey: Owner, Bowen’s Barber Shop Bucks County, PA

18th Style: Who inspires your style?

Tracey: Jennifer Lopez is definitely my style icon. Her style is sexy and powerful. She is the perfect mix of urban/street and glam. She can make a track suit and designer dress look equally sexy. I love that!

As a fellow mom of twins, I also love that she looks better than ever after giving birth. Fitness and a healthy lifestyle are of utmost importance to her and that shows through,in her style. Her work ethic, both personally and professionally is insane! She totally motivates my career and fitness goals. She proves that you can be successful in business while also being a mom! And that having a six pack is very possible after having twins!

18th Style: What does style mean to you?

Tracey: Style for me is having fashion flexibility. There are a lot of sides to my personality and I like my style to reflect that. I wear whatever feels right to me at the time. Being comfortable is a MUST and is the one consistent element of my style – whether it’s a gym outfit or a LBD, it has to be comfortable.

Right now all of my time is spent either at the barber shop or at the gym. If I’m at work, I’m wearing an all black outfit. It’s easy and is habit from my days of working in NYC on TV sets. If I’m training at the gym, I’m sporting performance active wear that can go from the gym to street.

18th Style: What’s your favorite store or brand?

Tracey: My favorite brand right now is Athleta. It’s premium quality active wear that suits my busy lifestyle. Their clothes are super feminine and versatile. I can wear it to work, to the gym, to run around town with my kids and for a night out! Perfect example…I recently wore their Gleam Tight 2.0 Leather Leggings with sneakers to run errands and then paired them with heels for a night out!

18th Style: What’s your favorite quote?

Tracey: “We rise by lifting others.”
